The immediate past governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that with governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s poor leadership in Kano state, has automatically ruled him out of winning a second term in office, 2019.
Rabiu Kwankwaso’s assertion comes on the aftermath of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bola Tinubu’s endorsement of Ganduje when he last week paid a condolence visit to him over the death of Alhaji Maitama Sule.
According to Kwankwaso, now a Senator, the endorsement by Tinubu would not change anything as Ganduje has lost touch with the people of Kano state.
He added that the APC leader is unaware of happenings in the state, stressing that no person in Kano would want him to return as governor in the face of hardship they are facing.
“We don’t want to join issue with Tinubu but what I will say is that he came straight from the airport to government house, he did not know what is happening in the rural areas or in the entire state,” Kwankwaso said.
“We know Tinubu to be an honest person but if he had known the situation in Kano, he would perhaps be restrained completely from that endorsement.
“If Tinubu knew the feelings of the people of Kano, he would have known that the governor has lost 2019 already.”
In addition, he noted that, “If Tinubu had carefully observed the political trend in the state, he would not have drawn conclusion.
“Ganduje has distanced himself from the people, he deviated from the Kwankwsiyya foundation, principles and ideology which were the basic fundamental he was elected as governor. He abandoned the promises he made to the people of the state.”
